NEET

What is NEET?

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) is a national-level medical entrance examination in India conducted for admission to undergraduate medical and allied healthcare courses. NEET is the single common entrance exam for MBBS, BDS, AYUSH (BAMS, BHMS, BUMS), veterinary science, nursing (in many institutions), and other medical programs across government and private colleges in India.

NEET was introduced to create a uniform, transparent, and merit-based admission system, replacing multiple state and private medical entrance exams.

Key features of NEET include:

  • Single national-level medical entrance examination

  • Mandatory for MBBS, BDS, AYUSH & many nursing courses

  • Accepted by government & private medical colleges across India

  • Merit-based counselling system (All India & State quotas)

  • Standardised evaluation for students from all education boards

NEET assesses students’ understanding of Physics, Chemistry, and Biology based on the Class 11 & 12 curriculum. Admission is granted through centralized counselling conducted by national and state authorities.
